I drink coffee every single day, but what I want changes depending on the time of day. In the morning, I’m usually looking for a hot cup of coffee to get going. In the afternoon, especially during these hot summer months, I’ve been making iced lattes at home with espresso. That’s what initially interested me about the Bruvi Bundle. I wanted one machine that could do both well without taking up a bunch of counter space. After using it for the past few weeks, I can honestly say I’ve been really happy with it.
Before getting the Bruvi, I made almost all of my coffee with a French press. I still enjoy that ritual from time to time, but it isn’t the most practical way to make coffee every day. A single cup meant filling the kettle, grinding fresh beans, waiting for the water to heat up, pouring it into the French press, letting it steep for about five minutes, and then cleaning everything afterward. By the time I was actually drinking my coffee, it had easily been a 10 to 15-minute process. If I wanted a second cup later in the day, I had to do it all over again. That’s where the Bruvi has really changed my routine. I can have a great cup of coffee in just a couple of minutes with almost no cleanup, and if I’m in the mood for an afternoon espresso to make an iced latte, it’s just as easy.
The first thing I noticed was how nice the machine looks. It has a clean, modern design that doesn’t scream “coffee maker.” It actually looks like it belongs on the countertop instead of being something you want to tuck away.
Setup was simple. I was brewing coffee within a few minutes, and the touchscreen walks you through everything without needing to pull out the manual.
Easy to Use Every Morning
One of my favorite things about the Bruvi is just how simple it is to use. The touchscreen is responsive, easy to navigate, and gives you plenty of brewing options without feeling overwhelming. I usually brew either an 8, 10, or 12-ounce cup depending on how much coffee I feel like drinking that morning, and changing between those sizes only takes a couple of taps. I’ve owned coffee makers where you have to remember what every button does. This isn’t one of those.
Great Coffee
At the end of the day, none of the features matter if the coffee isn’t good. Thankfully, that’s probably been the biggest surprise. The coffee has been consistently smooth, flavorful, and never tastes burnt or bitter. I honestly wasn’t expecting it to taste this good from a pod machine.
I’ve tried several of the coffees that came in the variety pack, and there hasn’t been one that I’ve disliked so far.
My favorite coffee from Buvi so far is the dark roast Lamill Coffee pods, the taste great and have a nice bold flavor.
The Espresso Has Been a Nice Surprise
The feature I’ve probably used more than I expected is the espresso setting.
Almost every afternoon I’ve been making an iced latte. I’ll brew a shot of espresso, pour it over ice with milk, and that’s become my afternoon coffee instead of making another full cup.
It’s convenient having one machine that can handle both regular coffee and espresso depending on what I’m in the mood for.
Cleanup Takes Almost No Effort
The whole French press process that I outlined at the beginning of this article really made me appreciate how easy it is to make coffee with a Bruvi. If you are someone who likes the ritual of making your coffee by hand, then you will miss that with the Bruvi, but the little to no clean-up is a huge plus.
The used pods collect inside the machine, the drip tray comes out easily when it needs to be cleaned, and the whole process takes less than a minute. That’s exactly what I want from a machine I’m using every day.
It Looks More Expensive Than It Is
This might not matter to everyone, but I actually appreciate kitchen appliances that look good sitting out all the time.
The Bruvi has a premium look without having a premium price tag. At the time of writing you can buy the Bruvi Subscription Bundle for $199, which includes your Bruvi brewer with an initial purchase of 3 boxes of B‑Pods on Auto Delivery, or the Bruvi Bundle for $338, which includes the brewer plus a Variety Pack of 20 pods. This option does not require a subscription.
A Couple Things to Know
There are a couple things I’d point out before buying.
Bruvi uses its own B-Pods, so you can’t run to the grocery store and grab regular K-Cups. That probably won’t bother everyone, but it’s something worth knowing before you buy.
The selection also isn’t as large as what you’ll find with Keurig. That said, I’ve been impressed with the quality of the coffees I’ve tried, so for me it hasn’t been much of an issue. They also have ceremonial-grade matcha pods from Japan that are delicious.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed using the Bruvi Bundle.
It’s become part of my daily routine because it does exactly what I need it to do. I can make a really good cup of hot coffee in the morning, switch over to espresso later in the day for an iced latte, and everything is quick, simple, and easy to clean afterward.
There are certainly less expensive coffee makers out there, and there are machines with a larger pod selection. But if you’re looking for something that feels well built, looks great on the counter, makes consistently good coffee, and is genuinely easy to use, I think the Bruvi is worth a look.
It’s one of those products that doesn’t try to do too much. It just does the basics really well, and that’s probably why I’ve enjoyed using it so much.
