Roark has been a brand on our radar for a while now and when they contacted us about reviewing pants from their Off Grid series we were thrilled. Roark’s Campover Cargo Pants exemplify the brand’s ethos of adventure, functionality, and style, making them a standout addition to any outdoor enthusiast’s wardrobe. Designed with the modern explorer in mind, these pants effortlessly blend rugged durability with urban sensibility, ensuring they’re just as suited for a backcountry trek as they are for navigating city streets.
According to Roark’s website, the Campover Cargo Pants have the following features:

-MAGNETIZED SLASH FRONT POCKETS
-BACK ZIP AND FLAP POCKETS
-CELL STASH BACK POCKET
-KEY CLIP LOOP
-STRAIGHT FIT, 15″ LEG OPENING / 32″ INSEAM
Let’s start with what we liked about the Roark Campover Cargo Pants:
- Built-in Webbing Belt and Button Closure – This was super handy and gave you the ability to adjust the pant sizing exactly as needed. The quick-release button closure is handy and easy to manipulate.
- Low Profile Cargo Pockets – While the cargo pockets are pretty low profile they are large enough to fit most of what you need. I like how the pockets don’t billow out from the pants and give you that old-school early 2000s cargo pants look but still function as needed. Snap button closures ensured everything was secure in the pockets.
- Back Phone Stash Pocket – This was just OK for me I thought it was a little tight to fit some of the larger phones people have these days but it’s a nice option to have when you are hiking. My iPhone 14 Pro fit just fine in there though.
- Ripstop Fabric – The pants seem very durable and will go the distance. The ripstop fabric has a slight horizontal stretch and is perfect for providing mobility when hiking and other more active activities.
- Stylish Adventure Pants – These pants will go the distance and you will look good while doing it.
What I didn’t love about the Roark Campover Cargo Pants:
- The Pants are a Bit Too Slim – I am 5’9 160lbs and wear a size 30. I have a more athletic build and the size 30 was just a touch too slim for me. The waist was not tight at all for my size 30 and the waistband worked great but for the proportions of the 32” inseam, I feel like that could be a little bit looser which would help when hiking and doing other more strenuous activities. I would probably suggest sizing up one size if you are looking for a baggier fit.
- They are priced at $99 so they are not on the low-cost side of the spectrum but with the 10% off code provided you can save a bit and they should last the distance with the solid ripstop materials. Similar pants from Patagonia or Carhartt are coming in slightly lower around $79 or $89 respectively though pants from Kuhl are priced slightly higher so Roark seems to have come in the middle of the road on pricing.
Overall, the Roark Campover Cargo Pants are solid and should work well for camping, hiking, chores around the house, or just cruising. Roark offers Free Shipping on orders of $75 or more so these pants will qualify for free shipping which is always nice! They are made of 98% cotton and 2% elastane. The material is on the thinner size so your legs may be a bit cold during the night at the campsite but they will be breathable for hiking. Also, I think you could easily dress them up too if you wanted to go that route as the cargo pants are low-profile as mentioned earlier. They’ve got a great design and look stylish while being functional.
